HPEPL's Connie Liu was competitively selected to participate in the Asian Deans’ Forum 2018 – The Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop on 4-7 October 2018 in Hong Kong, China.
Hannah Crittendon, a student at South Atlanta High School, won second place in the ENGAGES Technical Presentation Competition. Engaging New Generations at Georgia Tech through Engineering & Science (ENGAGES) is a research program partnership between Georgia Tech and six Atlanta public high schools. Hannah's presentation addressed her work with HPEPL on plasma plume characterization of a novel radio frequency ion thruster at moderate vacuum conditions.
HPEPL undergraduate research assistant, Justin Johnson, was awarded a President's Undergraduate Research Award (PURA) for the Fall 2018 term. Justin's research topic is thermal induced cracking of Boron Nitride. The goal of this project is to gain a better understanding of the formation of anomalous ridges in Hall thruster discharge chambers.

Sara Miller was selected out of more than 1,800 applicants to receive the 2018 Mary Jones Berry Scholarship from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Sara will be recognized for this award at the SWE Annual Conference, WE17, to be held October 18-20, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN.
