Laser Thomson Scattering Tabletop Rig

A custom incoherent laser Thomson scattering (LTS) system calibrated using rotational Raman scattering (LRS) was deployed on a standard 6x4' optical table. A system of XT95 optical rails was used to facilitate multi-plasma source integration into the LTS system. The LTS system is based on three capital pieces of equipment -- an Nd:YAG 532 nm wavelength output Quantel Q-Smart 850 laser and a Princeton Instruments PIMAX4 coupled to an Isoplane 320A to form the system spectrograph. Standard high-energy optics steer, shape, and focus the beam into the plasma source test section of interest. The collection branch is made of achromatic optics from Thorlabs and relays an image of the test section onto the slit of the spectrometer for analysis.
