Congratulations to Kunning Xu on the successful defense of his Doctoral Dissertation "Ion Collimation and In-channel Potential Shaping Using In-Channel Electrodes for Hall Effect Thrusters."Kunning earned a BS in Aerospace Engineering in 2006 and MS in 2009 from Georgia Tech. He has done work with government and industry on electric propulsion. His thesis research focused on increasing Hall thruster thrust-to-power ratio through the use of secondary electrodes embedded in the thruster discharge channel. Some of his other interests include plasma-assisted combustion, fusion, and FRCs. Kunning will be starting in the Fall as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at University of Alabama Huntsville. -
